The 2nd of September 2022 marks the 1st anniversary of Pat Hume’s passing. The John and Pat Hume Foundation want to honour the life of the wife, mother and peacemaker by sharing pictures and tributes from family and friends.

On the day of her passing, tributes were paid from both local and global figures who included: President Michael D. Higgins and Hilary Clinton.

A few days after the passing of John Hume, Monica McWilliams wrote an article in the Irish Times titled ‘Pat Hume: The woman who never gave up’. She said: “Pat was in her own right a brilliant community politician; she ran the constituency office dealing with community issues, housing and poverty. Every person, irrespective of religious identity, was treated with respect and compassion when they sought her assistance. She was a brilliant thinker and close adviser to John at all the key political moments.”

The foundation is devoted to continuing the work of both John and Pat Hume in sustaining peace for our younger and future generations, part of this is honouring the legacy of the peacemaking couple. In honour of Pat Hume, we want to hear your memories and stories of Pat so why not share them with us in the comments section of our #RememberingPat posts on our @humefoundation Facebook and Twitter accounts.
